Not the same thing you see, and that's deliberate.
You work in every line — seventy of them on a big extension. Your customer gets it grouped into headed sections with a figure against each: site set up, foundations, roof coverings, second fix, and so on. That's how a builder hands a quote over on paper, and it fits on a page.
One tick — "show the customer the full breakdown" — gives them every line instead, grouped under the same headings. The total is identical either way. It only changes how the same money is described.
Small jobs aren't grouped, because there's nothing to group into.
The same view goes everywhere: the preview, the PDF, the link your customer clicks and the copy that lands in QuickBooks. They can't disagree with each other.
